There are a lot of reasons you might want to make your own LED sign display. Maybe you’ve got a local business and you want to create some attention-grabbing signage for it.
The process is so quick and easy that you can do a number of effective things for your business, whether it means you spend a ton of time making an elaborate LED window display, or less time creating several LED signs that you post all around town.
The materials are so cheap and the process is so easy that you can easily take advantage of either option.
You might not even have an advertising-oriented motivation behind your desire to create an awesome LED sign, however. Maybe you just want something creative with which to decorate your house, or perhaps you’re wanting to inject a little shot of colorful life into your little one’s bedroom.
Whatever the case may be, there are a lot of reasons you might find yourself wanting to make a really cool-looking LED sign.
The great news is that you can do this with a minimum of effort, and using parts that are easily purchased at your local hardware and/or electronics stores. Whether you’re trying to go commercial or just get creative, it’s super easy to make yourself a cool LED sign display, and we’re going to talk about exactly how you might go about doing it.
The first thing you’re going to want to do is figure out exactly what your design is going to look like.
It’s likely that you won’t be using LEDs (also known as light emitting diodes) for the entirety of your sign, so figure out exactly how you’re going to arrange your pattern of lights. You’ll want to use a cardboard box, and represent the design on the box.
Puncture your box and leave the holes through which you’re going to stick your LED lights. As you’re doing this, make sure the lights will actually be small enough to fit through.
You can paint your sign either before or after you poke the holes for the LEDs. Before you actually cut or punch out those holes, though, you want to make sure that you give yourself a good look at the pattern as a whole. Take a step back and really take it in, so you can make sure it’s exactly the way you want it. Then you’ll be ready to cut out your LED holes.
You can easily purchase pre-wired LEDs, and all you’ll need to do is connect them to the battery for your sign.
Once you’ve done this, you’re pretty much ready to put your sign out and enjoy the benefits of your cool, new LED display. Of course, you can always utilize the services of a site like Bright LED Signs if you don’t feel like doing the work yourself, but it’s nice to know that the job is pretty easy if you think you might want to tackle it all on your own.
